Off into the world, again.

I am in the airport now, waiting for a flight to Denmark to board.  Travelling international for work is surprisingly different than the same travel for pleasure.  Things I’ve had to do to prepare for this flight, different from any other trip I’ve taken:

  • Set up world calling on my Skype account, to avoid the nearly $2/minute charges from the mobile provider.
  • Actually set up international roaming on my cell phone, just in case I still do need it.
  • Purchase a new power adapter to power my laptop, since the normal converters are either “>500 watts” or “<50 watts” and my laptop adapter is 90 Watts.  (Yes, another iGo product. No, they don’t pay me for the links.)
  • Remind all of my co-workers that I’ll be available, but not by phone.

When we went to Barcelona or Sydney, we didn’t have to do any of this – a small power converter was enough for the camera recharges, and the phones still dialed emergency numbers if we needed them.  Also, it’s strange to be leaving the country without Amanda.  She should be able to join me next time.
